About the Film


The film recounts the life and struggle of martyr Zighoud Youcef (1921 – 1956), a major figure of the Algerian Liberation Revolution, from his joining the Algerian People’s Party to his engagement in the armed revolt. It traces key milestones in his career, such as his participation in the historic “Group of 22” meeting and his decisive role in expanding the revolution in the North-Constantine region, including organizing the August 20, 1955 attacks — up to his martyrdom on September 23, 1956.

Mounes Khammar is an Algerian director and producer who started his career in media and communications before devoting himself to film. He founded his production company Saphina Productions in 2003 and directed several films acclaimed at local and international festivals, including his short film Le Dernier Passager (Final Passenger), which was a finalist at the National Film Board of Canada competition and won the Black Pearl Award for Best Arab Short at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival.
