About the Film
Inspired by real events, The Settlement follows two brothers living in a marginalized community in Alexandria. After their father’s sudden death in a workplace accident, the local factory offers them jobs as compensation instead of legal action. As they take on their new roles, they begin to question whether their father’s death was truly accidental.

Mohamed Rashad is an Egyptian director, writer, and producer. Born in Alexandria in 1980, he made short fiction films including From Afar (2005) and Maxim (2007). His first feature, the documentary Little Eagles (2016), won awards at Luxor and Malmö festivals. The Settlement is his first fiction feature.
