Yasemin Şamdereli is a German actress, screenwriter, and director of Kurdish origin. She graduated from the University of Television and Film in Munich. Her graduation film Kismet was presented at several film festivals and won the Short Tiger Award. She served as assistant director on two Jackie Chan films, as well as the Turkish TV feature Turkish for Beginners (2012). She also directed the comedy-drama Almanya: Welcome to Germany, which won 12 awards, including German Film of the Year (2011).
