At the age of five, Bassam Mortada visited his father in the notorious Abo Zaabal Prison—an experience filled with confusion and distance. Raised by his activist mother, he later sought to rebuild his bond with both parents and understand how their political choices shaped his life. Blending personal testimony, archives, and collective Egyptian memory, the film explores legacy and reconciliation.

Bassam Mortada is a filmmaker and co-founder of See Media production. His first feature documentary, Reporting… a Revolution (2012), about journalists of the January 25 Revolution, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). He focuses on overlooked narratives, social injustice, and documenting activists’ lives.
