Through the character of Dahmane, a top student who joins the Algerian People’s Party and later the revolutionary struggle, the film explores Algerians’ fight against French colonial rule after World War II and the impact of forced conscription. It highlights how many families were plunged into debt and poverty following the death or disappearance of their breadwinners.

Mohamed Charaf Eddine Ketita is an Algerian director who studied at the École Supérieure de Réalisation Audiovisuelle in Nice (1989-90) and the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français in Paris (1990-93), earning a BTS in film techniques (assistant directing). With over 30 years of experience in audiovisual production, Ketita worked with prominent filmmakers and over the years directed both feature films and TV series.
